Hints for the 2017 Prospective JAMB Candidates

As preparation is on top gear for the 2017 UTME registration, the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) had conducted a final inspection of Computer Based Registration Centers (CBT) across the country on Friday 10th of march 2017.Also final meeting has been called up for all the CBT centers to meet in Lagos on Monday 13th march 2017.The meeting is expected to be the last in the series of meetings held between jamb and CBT owners before the commencement of the registration during the week ahead. After the Monday meeting , jamb is expected to updates the names of  successful centers that would be used for the 2017 JAMB registration and examination.

 Prospective Candidate are to take note of the following facts.

  1. That while registering, the candidate should select good centers that have good reputation to conduct JAMB examination. Jamb has specified the necessary requirement for CBT centers to be involved in the conduct of the examination. All centers are expected to have 250 functioning computers all connected to a saver in the hall, with 25 back-up. While selecting centers during registration, the prospective   candidates should be wary of centers that are known to assemble obsolete computers that often break down in the course of the examination. How to identify such centers are very easy, asking a question from one or two in candidates in your area who had taken JAMB exam in previous years will solve this problem. Some of the problems encountered in such centers includes, abruptly shut down of computers during examination, interrupted power supply, networking problems and so on. This problems has often time lead to the failure of many student who ordinarily would have perform very well.

2.The JAMB 2017 examination registration process is different from the previous JAMB registration. Unlike the previous years the candidate are expected to log-on to JAMB website at www.jamb.org.ng to create an account or individual profile with a valid email address, this account will be use to set up a profile for each candidate. Candidates are expected to remember their account details i.e the USER name which is the candidates email address use in creating the account and PASSWORD use by the candidate. Students should use most familiar passwords they can remember easily as all other activities related to JAMB for a particular candidate will require the log in details of such student, e.g registration, checking and printing of result, amendment of data, change of course and institutions e.t.c.

3.The assertion that student awaiting result which has generated a lot of controversy would not be allowed to register for the jamb 2017 examination has been cleared by the JAMB spoke person Mr. Fabian Benjamin, he said they can register, and the student must update their status as soon as their result release on JAMB website and the institution website where the candidate is seeking admission. He said any candidate who fail to update their result at the appropriate time will not be consider for admission.

  1. The 2017 JAMB registration also involves a different biometric capture from previous registration. The “U are U” biometric scanner which is popularly use in previous registration is no longer the type to be use during the 2017 UTME registration. The new scanner similar to the one use in the banks for BVN registration is programmed to capture the ten thumbs of the candidates. Candidates should ensure that their  thumb are captured during the registration using their ten fingers to avoid embarrassment during the exam.
  2. Installation of CLOSED-CIRCUIT TELEVISION popularly known as “CCTV” in each examination centers all over the federation to monitor the conduct of JAMB 2017 examination. Candidate should make a background check of the examination centers they select during registration. Most centers that involves in sharp practices should be avoided. The CCTV monitored all activities during the conduct of the examination, thus examination for such centers which involves in malpractices will be cancelled. Therefore, all candidates should adhere strictly to JAMB examination rules and regulation for their own good.
  3. During registration, the student should study the JAMB BROCHURE carefully to check for institutions, courses and subjects required to be passed in both JAMB and Secondary School Certificate Examination needed for the course he or she is applying for, failure to registered or passed the required subject combination for such courses may denied the student admission in to the tertiary institution of her choice.
